Rockford Chapter NSDAR Projects

The Rockford Chapter NSDAR is a very active, project-oriented group.  Our projects include, but are not limited to, helping the Rockford Veterans Drop-in Center, serving a Welcome Reception for Naturalization Ceremonies, awarding Good Citizens and American History Awards to area high school students, and awarding three locally funded scholarships for incoming freshman college students. The Rockford Chapter NSDAR is active in both short-term and long-term projects.  See our Agent Orange, Faces of Heroes and Veterans' Services pages to get more information about those projects.

Other projects include:
Marker Dedications
The Rockford Chapter NSDAR participates in marking historical spots, sometimes on our own and often in conjunction with other groups.  Two examples are the historical marker at Tinker Swiss Cottage (2004) and the marker at Memorial Hall (2017).
Supporting State and National Projects
The Rockford Chapter NSDAR proudly supports state and national projects, such as the Tamassee Indian School and Kate Duncan Smith School.  In 2014, we contributed $1,200 toward the construction of a softball diamond at the Kate Duncan School.

We also support the President General's Projects and the Illinois State Regent's Projects.
Day of Service Project
The Rockford Chapter NSDAR's Day of Service recurring project is to collect soap, deodorant and white washcloths for the Walter Lawson Children's Home in Rockford. The home serves the developmentally disabled and is always in need of these items. Items are collected at the chapter meeting and delivered to the home.
